Terms of Service

CrownScholar helps you discover scholarships and financial aid, track deadlines, and prepare applications using tools that include AI features. We curate a database focused on Black students and HBCU-specific awards, and we add to it over time.

You must be at least 13 years old to use CrownScholar. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and a parent or guardian must approve any paid subscription before you start it.

You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your password private. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You agree to provide accurate information so we can match you to the right scholarships.

This is important. CrownScholar helps you find and track scholarships, but we do not award them and we do not control them. Scholarship details, eligibility rules, award amounts, and deadlines are set by the organizations that offer them and can change without notice. We work to keep our information accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every listing is complete, current, or error-free. Always confirm the details and the deadline on the scholarship provider's own website before you rely on them. Using CrownScholar does not guarantee that you will be matched with, qualify for, or win any scholarship.

Our AI features, such as the essay coach, award letter analyzer, and FAFSA guidance, are meant to help you think and prepare. They can make mistakes and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified counselor, financial aid officer, accountant, or attorney. Use your own judgment, and check important financial decisions with a professional.

Some links on CrownScholar are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. A recommendation is not a guarantee that a product is right for your situation.

Please do not misuse the service. That includes trying to break or overload the site, scraping or copying our database, reselling access, uploading harmful content, or using CrownScholar to break the law or infringe someone else's rights.

The CrownScholar name, logo, design, and curated database are owned by CrownScholar and protected by law. You may use the service for your own scholarship search. You keep ownership of the content you create, such as your essays, and you give us permission to process it so we can provide the tools to you.

CrownScholar is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we do not make warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular result such as a scholarship award. To the extent the law allows, CrownScholar is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that harms other users or us.

We may update these terms as the platform changes. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use CrownScholar after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
